The path is a good place to be
Stay on permitted paths and respect local signs and closures. Leave plants where they grow, keep your distance from animals and take your litter home. The Alpine Club recommendations connect enjoyment of nature with care for the places we visit.
A photograph can wait
A tempting composition can pull you forward. Before taking that step, consider whether it would mean entering a protected area or crowding an animal. Another frame may tell a more interesting story: one with more surroundings and the distance you deliberately kept.
Leave room for others
On a narrow path, a moment of eye contact can help. Make space for others to pass, keep resting places accessible and ask before taking recognisable photographs of people. Different needs meet outdoors. Kindness often begins with noticing those differences.
What you can take home
A memory, a sketch or an observation can accompany you without removing anything from the landscape. Afterwards, you might write a sentence about what surprised you. Or tell someone about a moment no photograph could capture. Consideration is part of the experience we bring home.
