Nature in November

November need not be all grey. Look for colours, shapes and light along a familiar path.

These prompts are for Central Europe. What you see depends on location, altitude and weather. The photographs show Mario’s subjects in different seasons; they are not current November images.

01

Leaves: look closely

From the path, choose a leaf you can see clearly. Describe its colour, edge and visible veins. Compare it with another leaf. Leave the leaf litter undisturbed.

Life beneath the leaves →

02

Buds: take a second look

Look at a nearby twig without bending it or opening any buds. What shapes and spacing do you notice? Make a note and look again on a later visit.

Buds as little calendars →

03

Light: find a frame

Stop somewhere safe. Where is your view brightest and where is it darkest? Describe the mood in three words, or photograph the same view on a later visit.

Your November journal page

The template brings all three observations together. It is saved only when you choose to save it.

Keep it in your nature journal →

Before you go

Choose a short, familiar route, check the weather and available daylight, and follow local notices. A window view or an accessible seat can be your observation spot too.
